I learned a lot from the evolution unit. I learned about how the processes of evolution led to the humans today. We all evolved from fish, who then came onto land and became amphibians, then reptiles, then birds, and finally mammals. There are many pieces of evidence that support the theory of evolution, such as similarities in early development and fossils. I learned about alleles, genotypes/phenotypes, and gene pools. Natural selection played a major role in evolution. There are three forms of selection: disruptive, directional, and stabilizing. All three relate to a "curve" and how different individuals have different fitness levels. I learned about genetic equilibrium and how it prevents genes from changing, while speciation forms new species. In the "Your Inner Fish" video, I learned that there still a lot of gaps in the fossil record and a lot still left to discover, and it makes me curious about what is still out there.
